• The colorful Shweshwe fabric of Southern Africa inspired this vibrant throw. Named after 19th Century Sotho King, Moshoeshoe 1, Shweshwe is the quintessential fabric of Southern Africa. Traditionally, the fabric is worn by newly married Xhosa women, known as makoti, and also married Sotho women. Today the cloth has become multicultural and even Pan-African. Beautiful patterns and designs are created for many occasions, such as traditional ceremonies and weddings, and play a significant role in contemporary fashion.
